HGV 1 Shunter Driver (nights)
Location: Banbury
We are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our client''s transport operation on a temp to perm basis. Full time 48 hours per week.
This role is ideal for a reliable and safety-conscious driver with a minimum of 6 months'' HGV Class 1 driving experience, who is confident manoeuvring vehicles around a busy yard and positioning trailers safely on and off loading bays.
Pay Rates
-18.50 - -23.00 per hour PAYE
Working Hours
48 hours per week
Monday to Friday or Sunday to Thursday
18:00 - 03:30
Overtime available
Key Responsibilities
Safely shunting HGV Class 1 vehicles around the yard and positioning trailers on and off loading bays.
Parking vehicles safely and ensuring they are ready for departure.
Checking vehicle refrigeration units and freezer thermostats, reporting any faults promptly.
Ensuring refrigeration units are set to the correct temperature and maintaining food safety and chill chain standards.
Reporting vehicle damage, health and safety concerns, and any issues with the working environment.
Maintaining regular communication with the Transport Department via handheld radio to ensure vehicles are available when required.
Occasionally collecting vehicles from workshops and supporting the trunking operation when required.
Completing other ad hoc duties as needed.
Requirements
Valid HGV Class 1 driving licence.
A strong commitment to health and safety.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a transport team.
A reliable, flexible and safety-conscious approach to work.
