Engineering Supervisor

Newly created role to lead the Engineering function in this established aerospace precision engineering company. You will ensure engineering, manufacturing planning and technical activities are delivered efficiently and accurately, meeting customer requirements, company procedures, quality standards, regulatory requirements and Health & Safety expectations.



Key responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and coordinate the Engineering department, allocating and prioritising work.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership and support to Engineering, Production Supervisors and Operators.
  • Interpret customer drawings, CAD models, specifications and standards, and translate them into effective manufacturing methods.
  • Develop and maintain methods of manufacture, planning sheets, routings, manufacturing instructions and job packs.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings for parts, details and assemblies.
  • Identify tooling, equipment, material and process requirements and ensure these are communicated and actioned.
  • Support Production throughout manufacture by investigating and resolving technical issues and updating instructions where improvements are identified.
  • Act as the primary technical link between Customers, Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, Commercial and CAD.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), contract reviews and continuous improvement activity.


Manufacturing planning & ERP

  • Create jobs in MRP/ERP system from customer purchase orders, internal sales orders or system job suggestions.
  • Enter set/run times using historical MTMS data, CNC/CAD setup sheets, estimating inputs and approved standards.
  • Download/print job travellers and ensure all engineering information in system is accurate and up to date before release to Production.


Quality & regulatory

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with customer requirements, company procedures and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain compliance with CAA Part 21G requirements and undertake Form 4 Post Holder responsibilities if formally appointed.


Skills & experience (essential)

  • CNC background: milling (3, 4 and 5-axis) and CNC turning.
  • Experience in aerospace or a similarly high-standard engineering environment.
  • Material knowledge: Titanium, Aluminium and Steel.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments and with customers.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel; able to produce accurate technical documentation.


Desirable

  • Estimating/costing experience.
  • Milling and/or fabrication experience.
  • Experience obtaining material/AGS/treatment quotes and supporting procurement/supplier liaison.
