Clinical Research Fellow in Functional NeurosurgerySenior research fellow at ST8/post-CCT level to join the Department of Neurosurgery at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Job available from August 2025, for a period of 1 year in the first instance (renewable for a further year pending performance). This post is to replace the current fellow at the end of contract. The appointee will work closely with Prof Ashkan and his team on commercial and non-commercial research projects, with a main focus on Deep Brain Stimulation. There will be opportunities to develop own research and to attend clinical sessions and participate in the on-call rota subject to agreement with the research and clinical teams.The successful candidate will join Prof Ashkan''s research team and work on multiple ongoing projects, with the potential to contribute to other neuroscience research as required.Contract details: Fixed term, 12 months, full-time.Responsibilities
Identify, recruit, randomise and supervise patients for clinical trials within the Department of Neurosurgery in accordance with approved protocols and Good Clinical Practice.Maintain relevant trial paperwork and liaise closely with trial coordinators, nurses and other colleagues involved in these studies.Form an integral part of the intraoperative clinical research team, collecting data during neurosurgical procedures.Contribute to other clinical trials and academic activities in the department, including arranging tissue collection/ transfer to laboratories under approved Material Transfer Agreements.Develop personal research interests in parallel with current trials, as appropriate.Perform other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by the supervisor.Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further details of the main responsibilities of the role.Qualifications
