Carmichael UK is recruiting an experienced Assistant Design Manager to support delivery on a major HS2 infrastructure package based in Buckinghamshire. This is a freelance opportunity to join a high-performing design and delivery team on one of the UK s most significant rail infrastructure programmes, working across complex civil engineering works. The Role As Assistant Design Manager, you will support the coordination, management, and assurance of permanent works design, working closely with designers, construction teams, and client stakeholders. You will be involved in readiness review meetings, DDRs and IDRs within your area of responsibility, coordinating the delivery of typical sections, standard detail drawings, and supporting design documentation. The role will include day-to-day coordination of design activities, including verification, technical reviews, and interdisciplinary checks. You will also manage third-party design reviews, including Cat 3 checks, and work closely with construction teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned with the construction programme.
