We''re working alongside a client in order to find them a CAT 3 Authorised Electrician for their SSEN substation project in the Hampshire area. You would be carrying out the outstanding HV and LV electrical installations, terminations, multicore/control wiring and protection panel works. In addition to this, you would support the testing and commissioning sequence.

This is a contract role starting ASAP and finishing in early December. Working days are Monday to Friday, with programmed outage/out-of-hours working.

You must have a current SSE/SSEN authorisation to Category 3 (CAT 3)

Key responsibilities:

• Mount 132kV and 33kV surge arresters and complete their earthing and busbar/conductor connections.
• Complete disconnector and circuit breaker busbar connections to underslung post insulators, and CB terminal conductor connections to overhead copper busbars.
• Connect underslung post insulators to the transformer HV bushings and support removal of the 132kV fault thrower.
• Install and terminate earthing transformer and NER neutral cabling; earth the earthing transformer and NER; complete VT conductor connections.
• Install and terminate 132kV and 33kV outdoor multicores; complete terminations and ferruling at the marshalling kiosk; terminate the 400V AC tap-changer supply into the LVAC pillar; pull and terminate LVAC board cabling.
• Carry out relay room works: HV/LV relay panel internal wiring, wall-box terminations and trunking, glanding and terminating multicores, RS485 and 10-pair communications cabling, and fuse-carrier replacement.
• Support the commissioning engineer through functional, NER, VT, isolator, CB, relay secondary injection, control panel, AVC, SCADA, stability, intertripping and interlock testing and energisation.
• Work strictly to RAMS, safety documentation and the safe system of work; maintain quality and installation records.

Key requirements & qualifications:

• Demonstrable hands-on experience as an electrician on high voltage substations (33kV/132kV): HV/LV terminations, busbar and conductor connections, multicore installation and protection/relay panel wiring.
• Experience supporting substation commissioning and working to safety documentation in a live/part live environment.
• Familiarity with SSEN/DNO substation standards, marshalling kiosk and LVAC works.
• Current SSE / SSEN authorisation to Category 3 (CAT3) - Authorised Person for HV/LV work under the applicable Distribution Safety Rules.
• C&G 2360/2365 (or equivalent) electrical installation; 18th Edition (BS 7671) desirable.
• SHEA Power / EUSR utility safety passport and CSCS/ECS card; first aid.
• Full UK driving licence.
