A well-established UK housing provider with a strong supported housing portfolio is seeking a dedicated Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join the Housing & Property Services team on an interim basis. This role focuses on supporting vulnerable tenants to sustain their tenancies, build independence, and achieve positive long-term outcomes.

- Role: Tenancy Sustainment Officer
- Contract: Interim until August 2026 (potential extension)
- Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week
- Location: Durham
- Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
- Pay Rate: £14.50 PAYE
- Compliance: Enhanced Adult DBS required
- Travel: Full UK driving licence & access to a vehicle required
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct keywork sessions to assess tenant needs and develop and maintain Tenancy Sustainment Plans (TSPs).
- Provide tailored support to help tenants sustain their tenancy and move towards independent living.
- Complete regular reviews of support plans, ensuring they reflect changing needs and risks.
- Support tenants with Housing Benefit claims, welfare applications, and financial inclusion advice.
- Manage a patch of supported living properties, ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and well maintained.
- Carry out housing management duties including lettings, allocations, tenancy sign-ups, and estate inspections.
- Proactively manage rent arrears, offering advice, support, and referrals where required.
- Manage and resolve anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases in line with policy and procedure.
- Complete risk assessments and safeguarding referrals, working with relevant internal and external partners.
- Report and monitor repairs, working closely with maintenance teams and contractors to ensure timely resolution.
- Support voids management and property turnaround to ensure timely re-let of properties
Skills, Experience of this Role
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in housing, supported housing, or tenancy sustainment roles.
- Strong understanding of tenancy management, rent arrears, ASB, and housing legislation.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and delivering person-centred support.
- Ability to complete support plans, risk assessments, and clear case records.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and prioritise competing demands.
- Improved outcomes in tenancy sustainment, rent recovery, safeguarding, and community stability through proactive intervention and partnership working.
