Freelance Quantity Surveyor - Southampton

A leading main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major Industrial & Logistics developments across the South Coast region.

Based in Southampton, you will play a key commercial role on large-scale warehouse and distribution projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors from pre-construction through to final account.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a strong pipeline of industrial and logistics work nationwide.

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, responsibilities will include:

• Full commercial management of Industrial & Logistics projects
• Administration of JCT Design & Build contracts
• Management of both upstream and downstream commercial processes
• Procurement and management of subcontract packages
• Cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
• Valuations, variations and change management
• Subcontract account management and final accounts
• Liaising with site and project management teams
• Supporting commercial strategy and risk management
• Ensuring commercial compliance across project delivery

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
• Previous Industrial / Logistics / Warehouse project experience preferred
• Strong understanding of JCT Design & Build contracts
• Experience managing both client-side and subcontractor-side commercial activities
• Ability to operate independently within a live project environment
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Tier 1 contractor experience preferred
