Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our public sector client on a temporary basis. Role: ChefLocation: Edinburgh EastHours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week Pay Rate: £13.95 per hourDuration: Temporary 6 months (with the possibility of permanent opportunity)Start Date: Late August/Early September 2026Please note: This role requires a PVG Certificate for Children, or both Children and Adults. The cost is £59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate, payable by the successful applicant. Key Responsibilities:Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious evening meals each dayPrepare meals in advance for weekend serviceOrder food supplies and manage stock levelsComplete temperature checks and maintain food safety recordsCarry out daily kitchen hygiene and compliance checksEnsure the kitchen is clean, organised, and ready for each serviceCater for a range of dietary, cultural, and religious requirements The Successful Candidate Should:Have previous experience working as a Cook or ChefBe reliable, organised, and able to work independentlyHave a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safetyBe confident managing stock and placing food ordersHave experience catering for a variety of dietary needs (desirable)Hold, or be willing to obtain, a PVG for working with children.
