We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic HCPCregistered Podiatrist to work within the field of Diabetes and High Riskfootcare, at a Band 7 level. Full-time is preferred, but part-time would beconsidered.You will be an active member of the Surrey and SussexMultidisciplinary Footcare Team (MDFT) and provide leadership on theorganisational and development of the outpatient element of the service. Youwill be guided by comprehensive policies and a supportive team, to assess,diagnose, develop and implement individual programmes of care for patients.Our patients present with a wide range of clinical needs, including acute andchronic neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems and woundmanagement.First Community actively promotes lifelong learning andwill support the successful candidate with internal and external training.You will have the opportunity to broaden yourexperience and work within a supportive and stimulating multidisciplinaryservice across both primary and secondary care. To provide specialist footcare for patients with complex high risk foot problems.This includes diabetes patients with acute and chronic foot wounds, patients with neuropathic and vascular complications,patients with foot complications who are immunosuppressed and patients who havepoor tissue viability.The post holder will be clinically responsible fortreatment of the high risk caseload working autonomously as well as work aspart of the multidisciplinary team.The post requires accepting urgent referralsfrom GPs, community podiatrists, and other health professionals and willprovide responsive specialist care.The role will support the educationand up-skilling of clinical and care staff working with diabetic care and patienteducation.The post will be based in a varietyof settings within East Surrey area including hospital and community locations.About us

Job SummaryTo provide leadership for the podiatry service within the field of High Risk and Diabetic care. To advise and interpret national professional policies for the specialist area and contribute to the ongoing strategic planning of diabetes services.To provide expert clinical practice in the assessment and diagnosis of highly complex podiatric problems and deliver individualised treatment for clients with specialised care needs to maintain their mobility, independence and prevent disability.Acting as a source of clinical expertise for diabetic footcare, working as part of the Multidisciplinary Diabetic Footcare Team (MDFT) to ensure an effective coordinated service.Development, implementation and review of patient and clinical pathways, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and clinical guidance for the High Risk podiatric service. Working with Manager for Podiatry and Orthotics to create business cases to develop the High Risk service to maintain up to date patient care in accordance with national policies and local projects.Lead the ongoing development of podiatry staff through clinical rotations, mentoring and supervision. To deliver training to podiatrists and other health care practitioners on management of highly complex podiatric patients.Person Specification

Experience

Experience of working as a specialist High Risk PodiatristExperience of working as an active member of a Multi Disciplinary TeamClinical Supervision of staff in own area and specialist training own and other professionals. Providing training and education in diabetes podiatric practiceEvidence of student or podiatry assistantsupervisionExperience of working with plaster room/ fracture clinicSkills

Ability to travel between sites and work in the communityQualifications

Podiatry DegreeHCPC registered PodiatristLocal Anaesthetic CertificateEvidence of a CPD portfolioPost-graduate education/ qualification in Podiatry diabetes specialism or working towards e.g. Masters/ equivalent qualificationMember of a recognised Podiatry AssociationClinical Educators QualificationKnowledge

Comprehensive clinical knowledge of diabetes and high risk conditions, impact and managementUp-to-date in podiatric diabetes, high risk and MSK theory and practiceWorking knowledge of relevant National Service Frameworks, NICE Guidance and current NHS initiatives.Understanding of the clinical governance agenda.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
