Chase Taylor Recruitment are working on behalf of an established and growing business within the fenestration and home improvement
sector.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to take increasing responsibility for the operational and commercial performance of our established business and support its continued growth and development.

Initially, the role will take responsibility for our conservatory and extension operation, overseeing projects from sale through to successful completion. The successful candidate will also have the capability and ambition to assume increasingly broad responsibility across the business as the role develops.

This is not simply a project or conservatory management position. It is an opportunity for an accomplished manager to take ownership of operational performance, profitability, people and customer service, improve efficiency and make a significant contribution to the future success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operational performance of the conservatory and extension operation.
• Oversee the delivery of conservatory and extension projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently, profitably and to the required quality standards.
• Lead, motivate and manage employees, contractors and other delivery partners.
• Take ownership of commercial performance, including margins, profitability, budgets and cost control.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and operational efficiency.
• Monitor workloads, resources, project progress and performance against agreed targets.
• Make timely, commercially sound decisions and take responsibility for their implementation.
• Maintain high standards of customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
• Resolve operational, customer and project issues calmly and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with sales, surveying, installation, administration and senior management teams.
• Produce and use management information to support planning, decision-making and performance improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity and the overall performance of the business.
• Contribute to the wider direction and future performance of the business.
• Take on broader management and commercial responsibilities as the role develops.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced manager with the credibility, judgement and commercial ability to operate at a genuine General Management level.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience in General Management, Operations Management, Contracts Management or senior operational/project management.
• Strong knowledge of conservatory, extension or closely related residential construction projects.
• Experience managing projects from initial handover through planning, procurement, installation, completion and aftercare.
• A strong track record of leading people and building accountable, effective teams.
• Sound commercial judgement, with a clear understanding of margins, profitability and cost control.
• The ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.
• Confidence in making decisions, solving problems and taking ownership of outcomes.
• A customer-focused approach, combined with the ability to manage expectations and resolve difficult issues.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• The capacity to balance day-to-day operational demands with broader commercial priorities.
• The ambition and capability to take on wider responsibility over time.
