Plan and deliver engaging lessons that are adapted to each student''s individual abilities, interests and learning preferences.
Support students with SEN, taking into consideration their additional needs, learning difficulties and any barriers to education.
Develop positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement, motivation and confidence.
Use appropriate teaching strategies and resources to support students who may require additional structure, repetition or a more flexible approach to learning.
Help students work towards their individual academic targets and develop essential skills across their core subjects.
Monitor student progress and adapt lesson plans to ensure tuition remains appropriate and effective.
Create a calm, supportive and structured learning environment that encourages students to participate and develop independence.
Deliver tuition in a variety of settings, including students'' homes, libraries and school environments, depending on individual requirements.
Communicate professionally with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required to support the student''s progress.
Essential Requirements
A minimum of 2 years'' teaching or tutoring experience.
Relevant teaching qualifications, such as PGCE or QTS.
Previous experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Experience adapting teaching methods to support students with a range of learning needs and abilities.
A full driving licence and access to reliable transport, as travel between tuition locations may be required.
Strong knowledge of core subjects, particularly English and Maths, with the ability to teach Science where appropriate to your qualifications and experience.
Excellent communication, organisation and lesson-planning skills.
A patient, empathetic and flexible approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students who may have experienced difficulties with education.
The ability to work independently and provide engaging, personalised tuition.
Availability & Working Arrangements
We welcome tutors with a range of availability, including those looking for regular weekly tuition or those who can accommodate different days and times.
Tuition usually takes place Monday to Friday, with specific days and times depending on the student''s requirements and agreed timetable. Flexibility is beneficial, as some students may require tuition during school hours or at other agreed times.
Tutors must be happy to work across a range of settings, including students'' homes, libraries and schools, depending on what is most suitable for each student.
