School Caretaker - Temporary Cover

Location: Brightlingsea - Own transport is preferred
Salary: -13.5014ph + Holiday, Pension and Adecco Benefits
Hours: 8:30am - 2:30pm Monday-Friday
Contract: Temporary - Start date is Wednesday 16th September to 2nd October

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and proactive School Janitor to join our client''s team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the school site.
• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained.
• Open and lock school premises as required.
• Conduct routine health and safety checks.
• Monitor and report maintenance issues and hazards.
• Assist with setting up rooms, halls, and equipment for school events and activities.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including pathways, playgrounds, and landscaped spaces.
• Liaise with contractors and support planned maintenance work.
• Ensure compliance with school health and safety procedures.

What We''re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a janitorial, caretaker, maintenance, or facilities role.
• Basic skills in plumbing, decorating, carpentry, or general repairs.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A friendly and professional manner when interacting with pupils, staff, parents, and visitors.
• An understanding of health and safety requirements.
