Overview
My client is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team near Chelmsford. This is a permanent role supporting projects across commercial, education, and healthcare, helping to deliver strong commercial control and accurate cost management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cost reporting, budgets, forecasts and valuations
• Produce and review valuations, take-offs and measurement documentation
• Support with subcontractor procurement and cost plan/tender support
• Assist in managing and valuing variations and change activity
• Track project costs vs plan and help identify commercial risks and issues early
• Support preparation of applications, interim payments, and final account information
• Maintain clear cost records and documentation in line with company processes
• Liaise with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to keep information accurate and timely

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Assistant QS within UK construction (relevant sectors preferred)
• Understanding of measurement and valuation processes
• Good IT skills (e.g. Excel, cost management systems—training can be provided)
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• (Desirable) relevant QS qualification and/or working towards MRICS / similar
