Senior or Principal Transport Modeller

Overview
Sweco, Birmingham, United Kingdom. We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior or Principal Transport Modeller to join our expanding transport modelling team in our Birmingham office. You will build and apply strategic multi-modal transport models and support or lead the delivery of a wide variety of projects within a multidisciplinary transport planning business unit for key clients. Our activities range from strategic multi-modal modelling, data analytics, and microsimulation modelling to support transport appraisal and business case development through feasibility studies to implementation. We seek candidates who are proven transport modellers with strong data analysis and visualisation skills who pride themselves on client-facing abilities.What the role involves
Development and application of new and existing strategic transport modelsProviding support and training in transport modelling to junior colleaguesWorking within, and leading project teams, ensuring quality deliverables to agreed timescales and budgetCommunicating and collaborating clearly and effectively with stakeholders and clientsProducing documents and presentations for technical and non-technical audiencesDelivery of data analysis and visualisation using automation and scriptingRequired qualifications and qualities
Master’s or Bachelor’s in a relevant degree (e.g. Maths / Physics / Data Science / Transport Planning / Geography) or equivalent industry experience – essentialWorking knowledge of strategic multi-modal transport modelling software packages such as VISUM, CUBE, EMME, SATURN – essentialUnderstanding of tools and principles of strategic transport modelling and relevant guidance (TAG, TEMPro, TAG Databook etc) – essentialStrong project management skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously – essentialData visualisation and dashboard production using Power BI and ArcGIS – essentialExcellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt to different audiences – essentialExperience in programming languages like Python, R, C++ – desirableExperience with microsimulation modelling software such as VISSIM, Paramics, Aimsun – desirableKnowledge of transport appraisal and associated software (TUBA, COBALT, WITA etc) – desirableExperience in proposal submissions, work winning, and business development – desirableMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIHT, TPS) working towards chartership – essentialAbout Sweco
