The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, hands-on with data, and comfortable using SQL and Python to extract insights, develop tools, and support performance management initiatives. This is an exciting role that sits at the intersection of engineering, data science, and operations. The Performance Engineer will be responsible for managing the performance of assets of Pulse Clean Energy’s battery storage portfolio, from the Commercial Operations Date (COD) to End of Life ensuring all asset performance are successfully driven. The role will report to the Technical Asset Manager and will work closely with the commercial and execution teams.Responsibilities:Performance Monitoring and AnalysisAnalyse operational and historical performance data across BESS assets to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.Identify underperformance and work with suppliers on remedial actions.Track KPIs such as availability, efficiency, throughput, degradation etc.Investigate anomalies, faults, or trends in asset performance.Support root cause analysis of system alarms, failures; which cause down time or underperformanceWork collaboratively with asset management and suppliers to provide data-backed recommendationsBuild lessons learnt and integrate these into future projects.Use Python for in-depth analysis, fault classification, and performance benchmarking.Build and maintain clear, concise visualisations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively.Build automated dashboards and reporting tools for technical and non-technical stakeholders.Tool Development and Automation:Develop and maintain internal tools/scripts to automate repetitive data tasks.Support alerting systems for performance or asset health issues.Trend analysis using customs scripts to determine common issues.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Assist the Technical Asset Manager with reporting, site visits coordination, and maintenance tracking.Support the Commercial Asset Manager with commercial performance reviews and revenue assurance.Prepare inputs for monthly and quarterly reports to senior management and board members.Help coordinate activities with third-party contractors including OandM providers and DNOs.Support in contract compliance tracking for OandM, warranties, metering, and grid services.Contribute technical insights to commercial, and operational teams.Cybersecurity Awareness and Data Integrity:Follow best practices for data access, integrity, and handling of operational information.Support penetration testing efforts for Operational Technology (OT)What you need to succeed:Degree level education in engineering, data science or equivalent technical experience.At least 2 years of experience in energy systems, data analysis, or performance engineering (experience with BESS preferred).Familiarity with SCADA and time series dataStrong proficiency in SQL for querying large data setsStrong proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, scripting, reporting and visualisationExcellent communication skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levelsOrganised, ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.Continuous improvement mindset with the enthusiasm and drive to work in a high growth environment.Work effectively as part of a team, share information with relevant parties.Proactive and keen problem solver who can focus on appropriate detail when solving problems and propose effective solutionsWhat Pulse Clean Energy Can Offer YouAt Pulse Clean Energy, we foster an inclusive culture that champions innovation, learning, collaboration and problem solving.Along with a focus on helping you to reach your potential, we have created a benefits package designed to support your physical and mental health, ensure your financial security and assist you through life’s key moments.Our benefits package includes:Insurance policies that provide life assurance, private medical care, dental care, income protection and critical illness coverRemote and flexible workingInclusion in our Value Participation Plan (a phantom share scheme to ensure that employees are rewarded as the company grows)Family support policies that include 26 weeks full pay for maternity/primary carer leave - and 8 weeks plus gradual return for an additional 4 weeks at full pay for paternity leave/secondary carer leavePaid time off for fertility leave, pregnancy loss and compassionate leaveSeniority level
