Head of Service - Supported Housing

Avalon are seeking an experienced Head of Service in Birmingham to oversee a large change management process.
The Opportunity
Avalon is seeking a Head of Service for a senior leadership position to oversee all operational aspects of supported housing services. This is a crucial role for the organisation, as the post-holder will lead a major change management programme to transform and improve services. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, experienced professional with a strong background in supported housing, a passion for service excellence, and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Leadership & Change Management: Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive change management programme and develop a strategic vision for service delivery. You''ll oversee a portfolio of (Apply online only) units, ensuring high-quality services that meet all regulatory standards.
- Operational Management: Ensure the efficient day-to-day management of housing sites and staff, while managing budgets, resources, and staffing levels. You''ll also maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, partners, and residents.
- Staff Development & Recruitment: Design and implement a plan for upskilling staff to meet the demands of the new service model. You will also lead the recruitment of new Support Workers and leaders to build a high-performing team.
- Service Development: Collaborate with residents and staff to co-design and develop a service model that meets the needs of those in supported housing. You will also implement best practices and innovative approaches to enhance resident outcomes and well-being.
Salary information
- Salary/Rate: -65-75k
- Progression: The role is a senior leadership position with responsibility for a major change management programme, offering significant influence and strategic impact.
- Support: This is a senior role, where you will report to senior leadership and the board on the progress of the change programme. You will also provide strong, compassionate leadership and support to your team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the supported housing sector is essential. You must also have demonstrable experience designing, leading, and successfully implementing change management programmes.
- Skills and Knowledge: You need a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the supported housing landscape. Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management are also required.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic professional with a passion for service excellence.
- Location: You must be based in or willing to work in the Birmingham/West Midlands area.
