Role Title: Corporate Finance Manager (Technical Accounts)
Type: Interim 6 to 9 month contract
Day Rate: -550 to -750 per day Inside IR35
Hybrid: Initially 4+ days per week onsite, reducing to 2-3 days per week thereafter
Location: Warwickshire / Rugby

Sellick Partnership are working with a local authority who are seeking an experienced Corporate Finance Manager to join their finance team on an interim basis.

This is a hands-on technical accounting role for a fully qualified accountant with recent experience within a District or Borough Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a broad range of corporate finance activities and must be comfortable working directly on the detail rather than simply managing others.

Initially, the successful candidate will be required to work onsite in Rugby for approximately four days per week for the first couple of weeks. Following this, the requirement will reduce to approximately 2-3 days per week, depending on business need. The successful candidate must also be prepared to attend meetings across the county when required.

The responsibilities of the Corporate Finance Manager will include:

• Production of the Statement of Accounts.
• Supporting and managing the external audit process.
• Responsibility for VAT and CIS returns.
• Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
• Supporting Accounts Payable and wider financial control activities.
• Treasury Management and Banking.
• Cash Flow management.
• Delta returns and Whole of Government Accounts (WGA).
• Taking ownership of wider corporate finance issues and priorities as required.
• Providing hands-on support across the finance function to ensure key statutory and operational requirements are delivered.

The ideal candidate for the Corporate Finance Manager role will have:

• A full professional accountancy qualification and membership of an appropriate professional accounting body.
• Strong technical accounting experience and a genuinely hands-on approach.
• Recent and sufficient experience within a District or Borough Council.
• Proven experience producing local authority Statements of Accounts and supporting external audit.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, CIS, Fixed Assets, Treasury Management, Banking, Cash Flow, Delta returns and WGA.
• The ability to work independently across a broad corporate finance function rather than simply managing a team.
• Flexibility to work onsite in Rugby initially and attend meetings across Warwickshire when required.
