Salary: -45,000 - -55,000 depending on experience

The opportunit
yI''m recruiting for a growing engineering and manufacturing business based in the Glossop area that is looking to strengthen its Design & R&D function with an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The business has continued to grow and recently moved into new premises, creating a need for additional engineering resource within the team.This is an R&D-focused position where you''ll work on the design, development and improvement of specialist engineered products. There is scope to recruit anywhere from Mechanical Design Engineer through to Senior Design Engineer level, with the responsibilities shaped around the successful candidate.
The role
- Design and development of mechanical products and components
- Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor
- Work on new product development and existing product improvements
- Take designs from initial concept through development and into manufacture
- Liaise closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and the wider business
- Support problem solving, design reviews and continuous improvement
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers where appropriate
- Play an active role within a small, collaborative Design & R&D team
What we''re looking for
- Minimum 2 years'' mechanical design experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally Autodesk Inventor
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design for manufacture
- Experience designing engineered products, assemblies or components
- Strong communication skills and comfortable working closely with different departments
- Experience within valves, flow control, pressure systems or similar engineered products would be advantageous, but isn''t essential
- Senior candidates who can provide mentoring and technical support to less experienced engineers are particularly welcome
The business is not fixed on a specific number of years'' experience. Transferable engineering knowledge, CAD capability and the ability to work effectively with others are more important.
Package & working environment
- -45,000 - -55,000, depending on experience
- Permanent, full-time position
- Site-based in Manchester
- Standard hours around 7:30am - 4:30pm
