Controls Engineer - Offering International Project Exposure, Hybrid Working & Career Development

Our client specialises in the automation and material handling industry and is recognised for delivering innovative engineering solutions to some of the world''s most advanced logistics and distribution environments. They have an exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer to join their team. This position is well-suited to a proactive and technically driven engineer who is looking to develop their expertise whilst delivering cutting-edge automation projects on a global scale.-

This position sits within the engineering team and reports into the Controls Engineering leadership function. You will be responsible for designing and implementing control solutions, developing PLC and visualisation software, and supporting testing and commissioning activities both remotely and on customer sites worldwide.

Responsibilities:

• Develop PLC software and visualisation systems for automated material handling projects.
• Design, test and emulate control systems within virtual environments.
• Interpret electrical schematics and technical design documentation.
• Deliver controls engineering activities throughout project design and implementation phases.
• Produce associated engineering documentation including specifications, risk assessments, testing documentation and operation manuals.
• Support on-site commissioning activities and provide customer training where required.
• Ensure solutions comply with relevant machinery and safety standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project quality, delivery and performance.

Requirements:

• HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics or a related Engineering discipline.
• Experience designing and programming control systems using Siemens S7 and/or TIA Portal.
• Proven experience within an industrial automation environment.
• Strong understanding of PLC development tools and software testing.
• Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as Profinet, Profibus, AS-i or Ethernet/IP.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Understanding of machinery safety standards and control system design requirements.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK and internationally.
