The Role
We are looking for a Warehouse Manager to join our GWP (part of Macfarlane Packaging) site in Cricklade, Swindon, to oversee a team of 2 team leaders and approximately 6+ full time staff working across 2 shifts. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring that the goods are stored efficiently, picked accurately, prepared for despatch in a timely manner and to the customers` specification. The warehouse manager is tasked with the accuracy of the stock levels and investigating discrepancies; also setting the strategic vision for the team on both a daily and long-term basis. The role is responsible for the liaison with Sales in regard to old and redundant stock and ensuring stock turnover with last in first out stock turn.
This is a role where you will be required to lead from the front and spending at least 80% of the time in the Warehouse setting a great example in housekeeping, attendance, positivity, accuracy and all-round quality.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your role will involve the following activities:
Main* Oversee the warehouse operations, co-ordinate daily picking and loading plans.
* Implement robust goods in quality checks and supplier booking in.
* Improving stock accuracy and maintain pro-active stock checking.
* Own process improvement for the department, both driving improvements and delegating to the team.
* Establish area performance standards and goals and hold the team accountable for delivery.
* Implementing new systems into a warehouse environment.
* Set an excellent standard of housekeeping
* Be the catalyst for positive behavioural change
Communications* Liaise throughout the day with the team and at end of shift with the Evening Shift Leader. Day shift concludes at 3pm, Evening shift commences at 3.15pm.
* Responsible for the upward communication of issues as and when required and handover communications.
* To be fully involved in x 2 daily operations meetings on progress of required jobs (09:45am and 1:15pm)
HR* To Conduct inductions and probation reviews on new staff and appraising of existing team members annually.
* To continue to improve the absence levels on both shifts by continually monitoring and managing absences via return to works, file notes and disciplinaries.
* Manage clocking of staff making sure they are paid correctly.
