SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: -95 - -115 per day
Start: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Long-term, with potential for permanent employment
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can genuinely make a difference?
Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist school in Barnet, supporting pupils aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs including Autism, complex learning difficulties and communication needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a specialist SEND environment and wants to be part of a supportive team where every pupil is given the opportunity to develop their confidence, independence and communication skills.
The role:
- Supporting pupils with a range of complex SEND needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom
- Helping pupils develop their communication, independence and social skills
- Supporting with personalised learning and differentiated activities
- Using visual supports and communication strategies where appropriate
- Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour when required
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Potential involvement with personal care depending on the needs of the class
We''re looking for:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Experience with Autism, SLD, complex needs or communication difficulties is highly desirable
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Someone who is confident working as part of a wider team
- Resilience and the ability to remain positive in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
You don''t necessarily need a formal SEN qualification - we''re particularly interested in people with the right attitude, relevant experience and a genuine passion for specialist education.
