Lead the development, delivery and support of a key subsystem used across several MBDA Air-Defence Weapon Systems programmes!
Salary: Circa £67,000, depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 to 4 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

MBDA has a large portfolio of weapon systems in development and in service for UK domestic and export customers in Land and Maritime air-defence missile and directed energy weapons programmes. The Maintainer Local Terminal (MLT) system is a critical component of these weapon systems that hosts a suite of common functions including:
- Secure software update for the weapon system subsystem components
- Weapon system configuration
- Download, replay and analysis of data logs from the weapon system
- Executing scenarios to allow users to train with the weapon system on platform
- In some cases, the MLT is hosted on hardware that is multi-role and also hosts the operator console software
You will lead the team of systems engineers responsible for software and hardware requirements, verification and validation, certification and support of setting to work through the factory. You will work alongside software developers to co-specify product, and with other engineering disciplines such as human factors and cyber security.
Leading the MLT team in MBDA provides an excellent opportunity to interact with all areas of the company, to see the full product development lifecycle and to deliver real capability to the customers to protect their home nation for the future.
What we''re looking for from you:
- Proactive with a mind for product-line development and systems thinking
- Strategic thinking
- Excellent stakeholder engagement both internally with programme leadership and with external suppliers
- Systems design / systems engineering experience in complex systems development
- Knowledge of Windows-based, secure product development
- Experience across the product development lifecycle and in-service support
- Applied experience of work package management
