Complex Needs Support Assistant

Leader Education are currently recruiting for a Support Assistant to become part of a dedicated and highly skilled professional team within a specialist SEND school based in Sunderland.

This welcoming and well-resourced academy is set within extensive grounds and benefits from a range of purpose-built facilities designed to meet the diverse needs of its students, including a therapy pool, a fully equipped sensory room, and a modern ICT suite. The role will involve supporting young people aged 11–19, helping them to access both their education and wider developmental opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment.

This is a full-time position, ideally working from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, offered on a long-term temporary basis, providing consistency and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with both students and staff.

Main responsibilities involve:
• Supporting students’ learning, social, and emotional development
• Delivering 1:1 and small group support to improve outcomes
• Enabling students with complex needs to access the curriculum
• Providing personal care while maintaining dignity and safeguarding
• Meeting diverse needs through a tailored approach
