Clinical responsibilities:In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties, including;face to face consultations, telephone consultations and answering queriesvisiting patients at homechecking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries relating to medicines managementdealing with paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionmaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care professionalsAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessDeveloping care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocolsProviding counselling and health educationRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standardsPrescribing in accordance with the local prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.Other responsibilities within the organisation:Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelinesA commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practiceContributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard settingUsing appropriate templates and protocols to ensure the correct summarising, recording and read coding of patient recordsAttending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.Confidentiality:In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. Qualifications
MRCGP qualification or equivalentGMC registration and license to practice in the UKRepresentation with a recognised medical defence organisationRegistered on a medical performers listValid UK driving licencePostgraduate training and relevant experience in a clinical specialtyGP TrainerExperience
