Are you a strategic Operations Director or General Manager – Fabrication Services ready to lead and grow a high-performing engineering site?

We’re working with one of the UK’s most respected fabrication and engineering groups to appoint a commercially driven Operations Director who will take full ownership of a busy service centre specialising in sheet metalwork, laser cutting, robotic welding, and structural fabrication.

This is a pivotal role where you''ll act as the site’s General Manager – Fabrication Services, shaping performance, culture, and commercial outcomes – with the full support of the wider group.

As Operations Director, you’ll lead a site of 40+ skilled employees with full P&L accountability. This role offers real autonomy to run the centre like your own business. You’ll be the driving force behind strategy, operations, customer satisfaction, and commercial growth.

Alternatively referred to as General Manager – Fabrication Services, the role involves:

• Overseeing all operational activity, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.

• Leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

• Managing recruitment, training, and team performance.

• Developing strong customer relationships and new business opportunities.

• Reporting directly to the Group MD and contributing to group-wide strategy.

To succeed as Operations Director / General Manager – Fabrication Services, you’ll need:

• Proven leadership in a fabrication, engineering, or sheet metal environment.

• Strong understanding of operations, lean manufacturing, and commercial performance.

• Experience managing P&L, setting strategic direction, and delivering business growth.

• A motivational leadership style and a hands-on, proactive approach.

• Step into a senior leadership role as Operations Director with full site responsibility.

• Be recognised as the General Manager – Fabrication Services for a well-established site with nationwide delivery.

• £65k–£80k basic + bonus (OTE up to £100k), car allowance, and full benefits package.
