Were looking for a seasoned and strategic Head of Security Engineering to shape the next phase of security at G-Research.This is a key leadership role, responsible for protecting sensitive data and maintaining a robust, forward-looking security posture across our technology landscape.Based within the Technology department, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the CTO, executive leadership and partner teams to ensure security engineering is tightly integrated with our broader objectives.Key responsibilities of the role include:Leadership and strategyLeading the Security Engineering function, including hiring, mentoring and performance management

Defining and delivering the security engineering roadmap aligned to technology strategy and enterprise risk appetite

Developing talent in line with G-Research values, modelling leadership behaviours, coaching teams to their strengths and fostering a supportive environment

Security architecture and engineeringDriving secure design and implementation across on-premises and cloud environments

Overseeing advanced security capabilities such as endpoint protection, identity and access management, encryption, network and application security

Leading threat modelling and vulnerability management efforts

Governance, risk and complianceAligning security engineering with internal controls, regulatory obligations and industry best practice

Supporting audits, assessments and compliance initiatives in collaboration with the CTO, operations and engineering teams

Incident response and resilienceContributing to technical incident response, including containment, investigation and remediation

Collaborating on resilience and business continuity strategies to protect critical assets and operations

Collaboration and stakeholder managementActing as a subject matter expert across technology and business teams

Communicating security risks and priorities effectively to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership

Promoting a culture of security awareness and partnership across the organisation

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen and a deep understanding of engineering, security, risk and governance frameworks appropriate for our environment.Skills and experience:Extensive experience in cybersecurity with at least five years in a security engineering leadership role

Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise security engineering solutions

Deep understanding of security and risk management principles and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)

Experience working in a financial services, investment management or family office environment

Familiarity with modern and legacy architectures and DevSecOps practices

Ability to work with team members well, with humility, respect and care for others

PreferredProfessional certifications such as CISSP, CISM or GIAC.

Exposure to privacy regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, and financial compliance requirements

Experience with insider threat programs, data loss prevention (DLP) and zero-trust security models

Behavioural CompetenciesStrategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

High level of discretion and integrity

Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-trust, and confidential environment
