The Robotic Welding Cell Supervisor is accountable for overseeing the daily activities within the robotic welding department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production output.
This role combines technical expertise with operational leadership, supporting production targets, maintaining equipment performance, driving process improvements, and developing the skills of team members working within the cell.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily and weekly robotic welding production to meet customer and business deadlines, monitoring progress and addressing schedule risks through resource adjustments, overtime, or staffing changes.
- Set up and validate robotic welding systems, including fixture changes, program selection/modification, torch replacement, and welding parameter adjustments, ensuring first-piece approval before production release.
- Monitor weld quality, scrap, rework, and cycle times; investigate recurring issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and productivity targets.
- Diagnose and resolve welding and manufacturing problems, including fixture wear, material issues, gas supply faults, wire feed problems, and parameter inconsistencies.
- Manage welding consumables and inventory levels in collaboration with purchasing and stores teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Analyse operational data and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, throughput, and process stability.
- Train, coach, and support operators in the safe and effective use of robotic welding equipment, including fault diagnosis and recovery procedures.
- Promote a positive culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across welding operations.
The Ideal Candidate:-
Essential Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with MIG welding processes.
- Proven ability to identify, analyse, and resolve manufacturing or welding-related issues.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to changing production demands.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, fabrication, or production setting.
- Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Experience working with robotic welding equipment, including operation, programming, or maintenance support.
- Previous responsibility for coordinating teams or production activities.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
