Provide effective leadership on procurement and commercial matters. Support service area teams to achieve strategic commissioning objectives. Drive procurement effectiveness and ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023. Contribute to commissioning strategy development across the Council. Improve contract management practices and skills within the team. Oversee the implementation of a new Contract Module in the finance system. Support councillors in decision-making and navigate the political landscape. Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks. Implement updated contract procedure rules and the Commissioning Framework. Person Specification Must-Have Requirements Experience in public sector procurement. Strong leadership and team management skills. Knowledge of procurement legislation, including the Procurement Act 2023. Experience in contract management and commissioning frameworks. Ability to support political stakeholders in decision-making. Strong understanding of supply chain risks. Nice-to-Have Requirements Experience implementing procurement systems or contract modules.
