Analysis and design of complex steel structures utilising Eurocodes, British Standards and BAE standards, to support submarine buildInterpretation and application of regulations and requirements beyond those used within BAE Systems (e.g., LOLER, codes of compliance, weld specifications, geometric tolerance)Competent in computer-based analytical techniques including finite element analysis, CAD modelling and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame)Support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures, modules and componentsContribute to production of concept drawings, layouts and other technical outputs aligned with contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demandsResponsible for approvals, checking analyses and outputsQualifications and experience
Engineering Degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent)Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, nearing CEngExpertise in structural steel analysis and designFully conversant with Eurocodes and British StandardsCompetent in reviewing and checking design outputsGood understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and lifting/handling knowledge including LOLERWorking knowledge of ABAQUS (Software), S-Frame, Foran, MathCAD and ExcelPrevious experience in a production environment; experience in a marine production environment is advantageousBenefits

As a Principal Engineer, you will be working with a dual-function team (design and engineers) consisting of 14 people at various seniority levels. The team is responsible for engineering assessments of the designs in support of build.You will be working in conjunction with design to produce equipment and/or support operation in production to produce safety-critical equipment. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.Why BAE Systems?
