The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning when teaching staff are absent. You will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain focused, engaged and on task while following the work set by teaching staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring students complete assigned work.
- Maintaining a calm, positive and purposeful classroom environment.
- Managing behaviour effectively in line with the school''s policies.
- Supporting students with their learning and encouraging positive attitudes towards education.
- Reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Upholding the school''s high expectations for behaviour, attendance and achievement.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally in a school setting.
- Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Is confident supervising groups of students independently.
- Is adaptable, organised and able to use their initiative.
- Communicates effectively with students and colleagues.
- Has a positive, professional approach and a genuine interest in education.
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or in another school-based role would be advantageous. Candidates with relevant transferable experience and the confidence to manage a classroom are also encouraged to apply.
