Role

Ensuring an understanding of project briefs; design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.

Preparation and review of documentation such as designs, specifications, assessment reports, and survey reports.

Carrying out (and managing others in) the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, and in-house developed tools.

Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.

Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish the status of existing installations and gather information to propose new or upgraded design solutions.

Assisting with the development of junior engineers.

Report and technical note writing.

Qualifications / Experience

Degree qualified or equivalent in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.

Ideally chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IET.

5–10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.

Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.

Good report writing skills, with experience presenting to and attending meetings with clients.

Detailed knowledge of relevant technical standards; able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative.

Good computer literacy with tools such as IES thermal modelling, Microsoft Office, CAD.
