Legal Counsel (In House)

The role will involve maintaining accurate legal records, preparing documentation, liaising with external counsel, and assisting with regulatory and risk management matters. This is a hands-on role with scope for professional growth in a fast-paced technology environment.Core Responsibilities and Duties:ContractsReview, draft, and negotiate contracts, including SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements under supervision.Monitor contract deadlines and key dates to ensure renewals, amendments, and compliance with obligations.Assist in developing and maintaining standard templates, playbooks, and processes to improve efficiencyCompliance and GovernanceConduct legal research on UK, EU, and international laws relevant to the company’s operations, including data protection, intellectual property, and commercial regulations.Support GDPR and UK data protection compliance activities.Assist with corporate governance, including board papers, filings, and record-keeping.Litigation SupportProvide assistance with disputes, including preparing bundles, managing deadlines, liaising with external counsel, and tracking progress.Drafting/writing letters.Liaising with the court and external law firms/counsel.Completion of Disclosure tasks.Ensuring compliance with court deadlines.Departmental SupportMaintain organised case files, contract records, and legal correspondence.Liaise with internal teams (Sales, HR, Finance, Product) to provide legal guidance under supervision.Handle administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the legal department.ExperienceExperience in the following areas would be an advantage: corporate law, contract law, regulatory compliance, and commercial litigation.Core SkillsGood analytical and problem-solving abilitiesSkilled in negotiation, clear communication, and building effective working relationships at all levels.Ability to maintain organised case files, contract records, and legal correspondence to support timely and informed decision-making.Personal AttributesDemonstrates a strong work ethic, consistently delivering high-quality work.Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.Adaptable, eager to learn, and receptive to feedback in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.Collaborative team player who works well across departments and builds trust quickly.Experience and QualitiesKnowledge or experience in corporate law, contract law, regulatory compliance, or commercial litigation, IP Law (advantageous).Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Skilled in clear communication, negotiation, and building strong working relationships.Strong business awareness and ability to align legal advice with organisational goals.High integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.QualificationsQualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or working towards qualification (SQE, LPC, or CILEX).Advocacy or court experience is desirable but not essential.Seniority level
