The opportunity
Are you a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer looking for a role where you can get stuck into some serious engineering challenges - and have the opportunity to earn big money on overtime?
We''re working with a well-established manufacturing business in Clevedon that is continuing to invest heavily in its site, machinery and engineering team.
They''re looking for a strong Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with solid experience across mechanical systems and hydraulics.
This is a hands-on role working across a busy production environment, where you''ll be responsible for keeping a wide range of machinery running reliably and getting stuck into genuine mechanical fault-finding.
And if you want to maximise your earnings, there''s plenty of optional weekend overtime available.
The shift pattern
You''ll work a 3-week rotating pattern of 12-hour shifts:
Week 1 - 3 x 12-hour day shifts
Week 2 - 3 x 12-hour night shifts
Week 3 - 2 x 12-hour day shifts + 2 x 12-hour night shifts
No scheduled weekend working.
If you want to earn more, optional weekend overtime is available and paid at time and a half, with double time after 8 hours.
What you''ll be doing
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a wide range of production equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Working on pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, valves and mechanical drive systems.
- Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
- Supporting machinery upgrades, installations and commissioning projects.
- Identifying recurring faults and contributing to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Working alongside electrical engineers and production teams to resolve complex issues.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety and accurate maintenance records.
What we''re looking for
- Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
- Good knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience with pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors and mechanical power transmission.
- A methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving faults.
- Electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
- PLC fault-finding experience would be beneficial but isn''t essential.
