RPS is currently seeking Senior or a Principal level Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join either the team in our Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Newcastle office on a hybrid basis.About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors from residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more as we strive to achieve the right balance between form and function when faced with competing priorities around sustainability, materiality, cost and constructability. What you''ll be doing
This is an exciting role for an individual looking to progress their career as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within our industry leading team where we have an excellent reputation, offering a wealth of expertise in all sectors of the built environment.
Duties Include
Produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with the project requirementsHave good technical engineering design knowledgeLiaise with both Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of this dynamic team that believes in absolute deliveryWork will typically be undertaken in conjunction with an Electrical Associate assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process of the projectsThe work would be a mixture of survey, design work, office based project administration and site attendancesCarry out detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projectsAssist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stagesAttend design team meetings alongside other staff membersInspect and report on electrical building services systemsUtilise Building Services software for calculationsEnsure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirementsProduce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issueSelect and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Electrical services suitable for the costing and installation by ContractorsFor a Senior Electrical Engineer work undertaken will be Electrical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects. Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project teamFor a Principal Electrical Engineer work will be undertaken in conjunction with an Electrical Associate or Technical Director assisting in the survey, design, specification and contract administration process of the projectsA Principal Engineer will contribute to business development activities, Ability to design principle electrical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:Low voltage electrical distribution from incoming supply through to final circuit to BS7671Internal, external and emergency lighting to CIBSE Lighting guidesSmall power and fixed powerPower supplies for mechanical and fixed power suppliesFire Alarm and detectionQualifications and Skills
To be successful for this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IET or CIBSE requirements., Cable containment related to the above systems.Proficient in the use of AmtechExperienced in viewing and interpret drawings in AutoCADUnderstanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems aboveBe experienced in using Microsoft Office SoftwareBe proficient in the use of technical software relevant to the design disciplineGood verbal and written communication skillsWhat''s in it for you?
