One of my local goverment clients is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Housing Register, Allocations and Temporary Accommodation Assistant to support key frontline services. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth coordination of temporary accommodation placements and assisting in the fair and efficient allocation of social housing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the Housing Register, managing temporary accommodation placements, and facilitating effective move-on plans for residents in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily temporary accommodation placements, ensuring appropriate and timely housing for those in urgent need.

  • Support the allocation of social housing on a case-by-case basis, liaising with internal teams and partner agencies as needed.

  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance and administration of the Housing Register and transfer list, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

  • Promote and support effective move-on strategies, helping residents transition from temporary accommodation to permanent housing solutions.

  • Work with Housing Needs Officers to help resolve accepted homelessness cases, ensuring actions are taken in line with relevant legislation and policy.

  • Ensure services are delivered efficiently, fairly, and in line with available resources, supporting the delivery of agreed team plans and performance targets.

  • Provide administrative support as required, including updating case files, logging placements, and monitoring key performance indicators.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a housing-related administrative or operational role, ideally within a local authority setting.

  • Knowledge of housing allocations, temporary accommodation processes, and homelessness legislation is highly desirable.

  • Strong organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in the use of IT systems and case management databases.
