About the job Financial Controller

Exciting opportunity to join this growing business based in Stanford-le-Hope. We are looking for a results-driven and confident financial controller to manage and improve our client organization''s financial performance and manage their accounting operations.

Duties and responsibilities

Manage team to ensure accounting records are maintained on a timely accurate basis for the company and associated companiesPrepare monthly/quarterly management accounts on a timely basis for all companiesProvide accurate and concise information to directors/managersMaintain cashflow summary for the businessProduce annual budgets for the company and annual variancesAid directors with ad hoc financial reporting including assisting director with strategic planningProvide key contributions to the company financial strategy and decision-making processesOversee the administration of payroll and auto enrolment reporting requirementsOversee the preparation of VAT return preparation and submissionLiaise with accountants with statutory reporting and audit requirementsManage and develop staff within the finance functionSupervise the maintenance of all financial systems, whilst identifying aspects that can be improved and implementing any necessary changes to support business developmentDevelop and supervise the implementation of internal financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systemsOversee the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgersLead the end-to-end audit process of current systems, while acting as a point of contact for external auditorsTake overall responsibility for the management of financial details to ensure that legal requirements are metExperience and skills required

Minimum 5 years experience in similar role in a commercial environmentExperience within the Haulage industry beneficial, but not essentialACA/ACCA qualified.Good communication skills; fluent spoken and written EnglishAdvanced knowledge using SAGEExperience of reviewing and implementing changes to systems and processes with the finance functionSomeone who has a can do attitudeGood knowledge of Excel, Outlook and WordDemonstrate positivity, approachability and have an investigative natureA practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniquesSolid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practicesSolid IT skills, including proficiency in the relevant accounting packagesA strong understanding of tax principles and lawsStrong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reportsIn-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecastingIf this sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
