Are you someone who enjoys helping children feel more confident in the classroom and takes pride in seeing pupils make progress?
Academics is working with a well-established primary school in Monmouthshire that is looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from September 2026.
The successful candidate will provide additional support to pupils who may need a little more help with their learning or confidence in the classroom. You may work with individual pupils as well as small groups, helping with areas such as phonics, reading, writing and maths.
You will work alongside the class teacher to understand the needs of the children you are supporting and help put the right strategies in place. The role will involve encouraging pupils to take part in lessons, breaking tasks down where needed and helping children become more independent in their learning.
This would suit someone who is patient, approachable and genuinely enjoys working with children. Whether you have previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or are looking to develop your experience within a primary school setting, we would be interested in hearing from you.
What we''re looking for:
* Previous experience working with children in a school or similar setting is desirable.
* A genuine interest in helping pupils who require additional support with their learning.
* A good understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly phonics, reading, writing and maths.
* The ability to adapt activities and provide appropriate support for individual pupils and small groups.
* A calm, patient and encouraging approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
* Good organisation and classroom management skills.
* An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
* Two recent professional references.
