Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a large, established organisation with the recruitment of an Assistant Finance Officer / Trainee Accountant to join its growing finance team.This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop their career within a complex and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of financial reporting, reconciliations, budget monitoring and financial administration, while working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The RoleReporting into a senior member of the finance team, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the production of financial reports and management information.
• Assisting with account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
• Processing and maintaining accurate financial records and transactions.
• Providing financial and administrative support across the wider finance function.
• Assisting with budget monitoring and variance analysis.
• Producing and maintaining spreadsheets and financial data reports.
• Supporting month-end processes and financial control activities.
• Responding to finance-related queries from a range of stakeholders.
• Assisting with audit requirements and compliance activities.
• Contributing to process improvements and maintaining robust financial procedures.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Previous experience working within a finance, accounts, bookkeeping or transactional finance environment.
• Good knowledge of reconciliations, financial systems and accounting processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
• AAT Level 3 qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous but is not essential.
