.We are seeking a creative and passionate Café Manager who thrives on innovation, loves building community, and knows how to create incredible meals from surplus and seasonal produce. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day running of our new café at the
Lewington Centre
, shaping it around the needs of local residents while working collaboratively across other Spring sites.Permanent
Part-Time (with possibility of extending to full-time)Average of 34 shifts per week (actual café opening days and times will be shaped by community needs). A rota will be agreed with the successful candidate. Shifts/days/hours can vary.Primary duties include:Cafe Setup:- Assist in the setup of the cafe, including layout, equipment procurement, and initial staffing.- Develop operational procedures and policies for the cafe.- Support the ongoing development of café spaces.- Design sustainable menus using surplus donations and seasonal goods.- Contribute to the ambiance and creative direction of the café.Daily Management:- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.- Manage stock levels and place orders as needed.- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.Volunteer Management:- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers.- Create and manage volunteer schedules.- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.Community Engagement:- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.- Manage and support community groups and events hosted in the cafe.- Implement initiatives to engage the local community.Customer Service:- Ensure high standards of customer service.- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.Financial Management:- Monitor and manage the cafes budget and finances.- Track sales, manage cash handling, and perform regular financial reporting.Collaborative Working:- Work collaboratively to ensure consistency and continuity in cafe operations.- Share responsibilities and cover shifts as required.Compliance and Safety:Follow all food safety regulations and health codes. Assist with regular inspections to maintain a safe working environment

Proven experience in a café or food-related setting, preferably in a management or supervisory role.
Creative approach to cooking, particularly using surplus and seasonal ingredients.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Passion for community engagement and volunteerism.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications: Food Safety Certification (minimum Level 2) is preferred.
Attributes: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction from the head chef, and adapt to changing priorities. Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
