Are you a proactive and compassionate professional with a passion for helping children manage their emotions and behaviour? Long Term Futures is looking for a skilled Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive primary school in the welcoming Richmond area. This is a full-time, long-term position with potential for a permanent contract, offering professional development in behaviour management and a secure, ongoing role.Richmond is an accessible area with excellent public transport links. Commuting boroughs include Kingston, Twickenham, Barnes, and Teddington.Responsibilities
Implement individualized behaviour strategies to address the root causes of pupil difficulties.Provide one-on-one or small group coaching to help children develop coping mechanisms and communication skills.Use calm and effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a reliable and empathetic role model.Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other pastoral staff to ensure a unified approach to pupil wellbeing.Track behaviour patterns and provide feedback to inform reviews and planning.Who we’re looking for
We need someone who understands what influences behaviour and has a toolkit of effective, positive intervention methods. You should be exceptionally patient, adaptable, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with children, staff, and parents.Requirements
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviours or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.Skills in de-escalation; relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) is a plus.A valid enhanced DBS check or a willingness to apply for one.How to Apply
