Support Worker - On-Going Temporary On-Ongoing post. £14.83 per hour, weekly paid. To work in a Homeless Shelter in Torquay. Hours are either 07 15 or 19 15To cover for sickness and holidays on an Ad-Hoc bases. To be successful in this role you will need the following: Good Communication skills Ability to be Calm under pressure, with good listening skillsAbility to deal with vulnerable adults that may be stressed or have challenging behaviourCourteous and respectful with all visitorsAble to work well in a team and independentlyUnderstanding of safeguarding and confidentialityBasic knowledge of mental health/substance misuse issues (desirable)Experience with overnight security or hospitality (essential)Willingness to work unsociable hours /shift patternsBe available to work a 12 hour shift at short notice As a Support Worker you will be responsible for: Cover Reception on a rota basis Days/NightsBe the first point of contact for residents during the nightControl access to the building and monitor CCTVCarry out hourly health and safety checksRecord incidents, update logs, and complete reportsDeal with emergencies (fire, first aid, contacting services)Undertake basic repairs/cleaning (e.g. changing light bulbs, clearing hazards)Support residents by listening and offering reassurance overnightCarry out room checks when requiredHandle neighbour complaints or concerns appropriatelyEnsure clear handover of information to day staffParticipate in supervision, training, and team ..... full job details .....
