Job Title: Senior Buyer - Manufacturing SectorBased in HertfordshirePermanent, full-time position 100% office basedHours of work: 39 hours per weekSalary: Up to £37,000 plus a range of exceptional employee benefitsResponsibilities
Reporting to the Purchasing and Materials Manager and wider team, identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and delivery termsSource quality materials and components in line with manufacturing and technical specifications and all production requirementsCollaborate with the production planning team to ensure timely material availability and supplyMonitor inventory and stock levels, initiating purchase orders to meet demandOversee delivery timelines to support uninterrupted manufacturing operationsAssess supplier performance and maintain accurate vendor records, liaising with the supply chain to ensure that KPI''s and service levels are enforced and deliveredPartner with internal teams (e.g., production, sales, customer services and distribution) to forecast procurement needsPrepare and manage purchase orders and associated documentation, working with MS Office - Outlook, Excel and SAP ERP systemTrack procurement indicators including cost savings, delivery reliability, and supplier responsivenessEnsure compliance with import regulations, shipping and customs proceduresQualifications
Proven experience in procurement within manufacturing or industrial environments - a minimum of 3-5 years previous, relevant employment expertiseStrong understanding of supply chain dynamics and production processesExcellent negotiation and communication skills—both written and verbalProficiency in procurement software; SAP and Excel experience highly desirableDemonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced settingCreative and resourceful approach to cost optimisationExperience sourcing a variety of metals and material commoditiesCustomer-focused mindset with a strong sense of urgencyKnowledge of import/customs procedures preferredAnalytical thinker with sound decision-making capabilitiesPreferred Attributes
