Job Description:General ResponsibilitiesPerform professional mechanical design and engineering for capital construction and maintenance projects on motors, pumps, PRV stations, reservoirs, plants, and other facilities. Research and plan future waterworks system and facility requirements.

Manage projects involving water treatment processes, including design, planning, and overseeing construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of various water infrastructure such as storage structures, bridges, piping, dams, pumping stations, and treatment plants. Establish design criteria, perform calculations, and write specifications, contracts, and manage construction and projects. Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs. Supervise personnel and operational activities within the engineering area.

Oversee a comprehensive asset management program, including updating equipment data and predictive maintenance in CMMS (SAP). Develop strategies to optimize work quality and practices. Participate in planning and budgeting to identify critical assets for replacement or upgrades.

Essential Job Functions

Perform detailed mechanical engineering for capital projects on water facilities. Coordinate with departments to prioritize and resolve issues. Analyze repair history and recommend upgrades or replacements. Assist in decision-making for equipment repairs and maintenance intervals. Develop condition monitoring programs to prevent equipment failure.

Design and manage projects such as storage structures, pump stations, and water mains.

Prepare contract specifications and bid documents. Conduct bid openings, evaluate bids, and recommend awards. Review product submittals for compliance.

Supervise and coordinate work of professionals, engineers, and technical staff. Ensure adherence to policies, laws, and safety standards. Manage HR responsibilities including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline.

Promote a performance-oriented culture, develop key performance metrics, and support employee engagement initiatives.

Uphold organizational core values, participate in process improvements, and ensure safe work practices. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years in mechanical process engineering, maintenance, reliability, and quality, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

Expertise with BWW system operations, quality programs like Six Sigma, and managing large capital and operational budgets. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, strong analytical and project management skills.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods.

Reaching, finger dexterity, walking on varied terrain, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Good communication, vision, and hearing capabilities.

Work Environment

Moderate to loud noise levels, outdoor and indoor work, exposure to weather and chemicals, field inspections.
