Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time position within a supportive primary school?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Wimbledon with a specialist SEN unit.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN TA who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference to their learning, development and wellbeing.



The Role

You will be based primarily within the school''s specialist SEN unit, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Working closely with the SEN team and class teachers, you will provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils to access learning and develop their communication, social and independence skills.

The successful candidate will be confident adapting their approach to meet individual children''s needs and be able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Support pupils within the specialist SEN unit and, where appropriate, mainstream classrooms.
  • Assist children in accessing the primary curriculum.
  • Support communication, social interaction and independence.
  • Implement individual learning and behaviour strategies.
  • Work towards pupils'' individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated activities and resources.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Work closely with the school''s SENCO and wider support team.


The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who has:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN.
  • Experience supporting pupils within a primary school environment.
  • A good understanding of autism and/or other additional needs.
  • Experience providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt support to meet individual needs.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
  • The confidence to work as part of a specialist SEN team.

Experience working within an SEN unit, specialist provision or autism provision would be highly desirable.
