Job Responsibilities

Support the coordination of the launch and ballot of UK Youth Parliament Make Your Mark in Wigan in February 2025 as part of UK Parliament Week.

Assist in the coordination of the MYP elections and support young people with their campaigns.

Support the senior youth and community voice lead to develop new opportunities and partnerships related to voice and participation work at local, regional, and national levels.

Seek, develop, and maintain networks for practitioners, ensuring they are effectively delivered, evaluated, and used to inform and build relationships.

Ensure effective communication channels are in place for members and wider networks.

Develop networks to promote and share good practices among partners across the borough.

Provide advice and support to all partners on engaging young people.

Support the Progress with Unity principles and missions, embedding them within schools, local communities, and voluntary sector organizations.

Promote a personalized and asset-based approach that enhances health and wellbeing, encouraging children and young people to participate in activities that support their physical and emotional health, educational attainment, and transition to employment.

Qualifications and Experience

NVQ Level 3 in a relevant area or equivalent experience, e.g., Youth Work, Youth Justice.

Experience working with young people who offend or engage in risk-taking behaviors.

Experience providing one-to-one support and supervision, as well as group work with challenging young people.

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and local multi-agency child protection guidelines.

Ability to listen, understand, empathize, and demonstrate respect. A friendly, approachable demeanor that children, young people, and families can trust, with the confidence to challenge when necessary.

Basic understanding of the Youth Justice system and principles of restorative justice.

Salary: Grade 6, £14,770 - £16,298 per annum. 18.5 hours per week.
