Mechanical Design Coordinator
Overview:
Our client are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Coordinator to join their project team delivering clean water and wastewater infrastructure solutions for Yorkshire Water. This role plays a crucial part in coordinating mechanical design activities, supporting project delivery, and ensuring designs are developed in alignment with Yorkshire Water’s operational and technical requirements.
This position would ideally suit someone with around 3–5 years of industry experience who is looking to progress their career into a more client-facing and coordination-focused role, with increased responsibility across multidisciplinary project delivery and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities:
o Coordinate and support the delivery of mechanical design documentation including but not limited to:
§ Pumping systems
§ Pipework layouts
§ Filtration units
§ Water and wastewater treatment systems
o Work closely with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams to develop integrated and coordinated design solutions.
o Coordinate mechanical design interfaces between internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client.
o Attend regular client meetings (e.g., weekly progress updates, hazard reviews, and design coordination meetings).
o Support stakeholder communication and ensure mechanical design solutions align with client expectations and project requirements.
o Assist with the coordination and review of technical submissions, mechanical specifications, and design documentation.
o Engage with the supply chain for the specification, coordination, and procurement of mechanical equipment.
o Conduct site visits for surveys, inspections, and design coordination activities as required.
o Provide mechanical coordination and technical support during construction and commissioning phases as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in mechanical design, design coordination, or project delivery within the water or wastewater sectors.
- Knowledge of UK water industry standards and practices (e.g., WIMES).
- Ability to interpret and coordinate P&IDs, mechanical layout drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and organisational skills for effective collaboration and client engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple mechanical design deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.
- Full UK driving license (for site travel).
- Familiarity with 3D design tools and coordination software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit).
