OverviewAbout Newham College : Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across pathways including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The RoleThe candidate appointed will join an innovative and dynamic team delivering 16–18 full-time study programmes within the Directorate of Professional Service Industries, including the provision of Sports. They will prepare and deliver teaching for a range of topics, provide advice and support to students, act as a Personal Tutor, conduct Internal Quality Assurance, and perform related teacher administration duties.
Key Responsibilities
Design, plan and implement effective and inclusive teaching and supporting learning activities.
Provide high-quality teaching, learning, assessment and internal moderation across a range of courses.
Teach across a range of modules/units or within a subject area using appropriate teaching, learning support and assessment methods and technologies.
Assess the work and progress of students and provide constructive feedback.
Contribute to the delivery, tracking and monitoring of key skill performance amongst cohorts of students in Sports.
Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activities within the school.
Tutorship of students, giving appropriate support to enable students to achieve their academic, personal and vocational targets.
Interview potential students and provide guidance.
Assist students in progression to Higher Education or employment.
Contribute to the development and continual improvement of courses, coordinating with staff and students.
About YouWe’re looking for someone who can motivate and inspire the next generation of designers. You’ll bring:
Essential Qualifications/Training
Degree in Sports.
Comprehensive understanding of the curriculum with subject specialism to at least Level 3.
Strong experience of delivering to 16+ age group with varied abilities in an educational setting.
GCSE or Level 2 in Maths and English.
Desirable Qualifications/Training
A recognised teaching qualification e.g., PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education.
Internal Verifier Qualification.
Current training and CPD relevant to the role and vocational area (past 2 years).
Experience
Experience of planning and delivering in line with Ofsted requirements to at least “good”.
Ability to plan learning in line with Ofsted requirements.
Experience in teaching/assessing courses at a range of levels and providing high-quality feedback and assessment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience meeting targets, KPIs or deadlines.
Familiar with safeguarding and relevant procedures including Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. It is Newham College’s policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised; however, based on qualifications and experience, a higher starting salary within the range may be offered.
