Our client is a leading global manufacturer of innovative fluid-flow and mechanical systems and is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their growing team!
The Quality Engineer will maintain high product-quality standards throughout manufacturing, covering inspection, compliance, documentation, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Quality Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate incoming, in-process and final inspection activities
- Conduct dimensional inspections against drawings, specifications, P&IDs and isometrics
- Verify bolt torques, gasket types, flow directions and product identification
- Coordinate NDT activities, review reports and ensure findings are resolved
- Ensure products comply with ISO 9001, PED, UKCA and applicable ASME and EN standards
- Maintain material traceability, calibrated equipment and welding-consumable controls
- Create inspection and test plans, quality plans, inspection checklists and weld maps
- Manage NCRs, concessions, corrective actions and preventive actions
- Lead root-cause investigations using 5 Whys, Ishikawa and other structured techniques
- Monitor SPC data, first-pass yield and defect trends to reduce rework
- Produce manufacturing data books and project handover documentation
- Work with Design and Production to improve manufacturability and standardisation
- Coach production employees on inspection, testing and quality requirements
- Support daily production meetings and communicate quality risks
- Host client and third-party inspections and manage hold and witness points
- Complete occasional quality inspections at supplier sites
Quality Engineer Ideal Candidate:
- Quality experience within mechanical or electromechanical manufacturing
- Experience in fabrication, pipework or modular plant construction
- The ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, electrical schematics and datasheets
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, pressure-testing equipment and torque tools
- Knowledge of welding quality, material traceability and NDT methods
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and controlled project documentation
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with production teams, clients and inspectors
- A Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering qualification would be advantageous
- Experience with Six Sigma, SPC, CAPA, PED, UKCA, ATEX or piping standards would be beneficial
Quality Engineer Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Friday: 07:00 to 13:00
- This is a full-time, permanent and predominantly site-based Quality Engineer position
