Mechanical & Electrical Field Service Fitter

Castleford | up to £40,000 + Company Van | Permanent

We are recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Field Service Fitter to join an established engineering business specialising in industrial pumps and rotating equipment.

This is a hands-on role split between workshop and field service, covering the inspection, refurbishment, repair, assembly and testing of pump equipment. Typically 40% workshop / 60% field-based, increasing to 70–80% field work during busier periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Dismantling, inspecting, repairing and rebuilding pump equipment
• Mechanical and electrical inspection, testing and fault finding
• Repair and maintenance of diesel engine-driven pump sets
• Measuring components and identifying required spare parts from drawings
• Completing inspection reports and technical documentation
• Assembly and testing of pumps and associated equipment
• Carrying out field service work at customer sites
• Collecting and delivering equipment when required
• Maintaining high standards of quality and health & safety

About You

• Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship, relevant qualification or time-served experience
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment and/or diesel pump sets
• Experience with electric motors and control equipment
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings
• Full UK driving licence
• Hands-on, proactive and able to work independently
• Flexible approach with good problem-solving skills
• Centrifugal pump experience is highly beneficial.

The following are desirable but not essential: CSCS, Confined Space, Overhead Crane/Lifting & Slinging, Water Hygiene, ATEX or Forklift licences.

Salary & Benefits:

• £40,000 basic salary

• Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:30
