Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a regional high end housing developer in the North East. This is a great opportunity for someone with existing industry experience to step into a role with clear progression, working closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor on bespoke residential developments.
About the role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of high specification housing projects across the region. You will work alongside the Senior QS to manage costs, procurement, valuations and reporting, while taking ownership of defined work packages as your experience grows.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with preparing budgets and cost plans for new and ongoing developments
- Support monthly valuations, cost to complete exercises and financial reporting
- Manage subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts with guidance from the Senior QS
- Issue subcontract orders and maintain accurate commercial documentation
- Carry out site measures and support assessment of contractor performance
- Attend internal and external progress meetings
- Maintain trade specifications and assist with procurement of materials and subcontractors
- Price customer extras and liaise with the sales team
- Support professional fees management and contribute to cost control processes
- Provide take offs and cost input for land appraisals and feasibility work
About you
- Experience as an Assistant QS or Trainee QS within construction
- Experience does not need to be within housing
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from senior team members
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and commercial processes
- A genuine interest in residential construction and high quality project delivery
Salary and benefits
- Salary is dependent on experience and typically ranges from 30000 to 38000
